The evolution of vape technology has led to the creation of new products and the increasing popularity of vaping. From the cigalike to the box mod, the form of vaping has changed. However, product form does not coincide with the evolution of technology. Nevertheless, here is the vape technology evolution .

First Generation

First-generation e-cigarettes were basic, as they didn’t allow users to adjust the power output to the coils. With the push of a button, the battery heated the e-liquid and transformed it into vapor.

Second Generation

Second-generation vapes introduced variable wattage and voltage technology, allowing users to adjust their coils’ power output to taste their preferred flavor.

These devices became more user-friendly and made the process of vaping safer. These devices’ chipsets read the coils’ resistance and calculate the power output to provide a personalized experience. The simplicity of variable power output has made it the most popular type of vape technology today.

Third Generation

The third-generation technology included Temperature Control. That means it utilized more advanced chipsets and new types of coil materials.

Moreover, third-generation vape technology utilized resistance-temperature correlation to determine coil temperature. Then detected, coil resistance to eliminate dry hits and reduce possible harm from damaged cotton wicking.

Unfortunately, temperature control is not widely used due to the limited number of available coils and the performance issues caused by the various types of materials used in the production of e-cigarettes.

Fourth Generation

The fourth generation of e-cigarettes introduced the alternating current mode, allowing users to control the power output to their coils in both directions.

With the upgraded technology, users can now adjust the wattage output and the Hertz frequency. This feature allows them to enjoy a more balanced and accurate power output.

With the ability to adjust the frequency and the power output, users can create a variety of flavors by selecting the appropriate e-liquids and adjusting the frequency. The enhanced heat transfer between the e-liquid and the coils can help improve the taste and extend the life of the device.

Studies have shown that alternating current modes can extend the life of the device by reducing the carbon buildup and increasing the saturation of the coils.
